The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department of Gautam Buddha University (GBU) organized a two-day Technological Hackathon in collaboration with iNeuron, a Bengaluru-based product development company with a platform for technical education. The hackathon focused on themes and solutions related to web development, data science, mobile app development, digital marketing, and social media.

Over 2,000 applicants from IIT Madras, Delhi Technological University (DTU), Delhi University (DU), Chandigarh University, Rajasthan Technical University (RTU), and more applied for the hackathon. Out of these, over 900 participants were selected to take part in the event. The selected participants completed their products on Sunday. They were divided into groups, and their projects will be judged by the GBU faculty and iNeuron professionals. The results of the judging process will be announced on Tuesday. Cash rewards of Rs 2 lakh, Rs 1 lakh, and Rs 50,000 will be given to the first, second, and third place winners, respectively. Additionally, the winners will be offered internships.

“Students from premier institutes, including BTech and other technology-related diploma courses, from across the country participated in the Technological Hackathon. The hackathon began on Saturday at 2 pm and concluded on Sunday at 5 pm. Out of over 2,000 applications received, 967 participants were selected for the program. The participants will now be evaluated based on the development of websites for the web development category, applications for the mobile app development category, and projects with artificial intelligence-enabled capabilities for the data science, digital marketing, and social media categories such as YouTube,” said Navaid Zafar Rizvi, the convenor of the Centre for Excellence (CIT) in Drone Technology at GBU.

During the event, GBU’s vice-chancellor, Professor RK Sinha, emphasized the significance of technology in nation-building and highlighted hackathons as a new mode of learning in the present circumstances. He stated that GBU will continue to support and empower innovative minds through such initiatives.
